Placida Romero, age 92, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, in Stinnett, Texas.
Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 19 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 20, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Glenn Jones, Celebrant. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Maria Placida (Serna) Romero was born on June 28, 1920 in Mora, New Mexico to Vidal Serna and Rebecca (Lovato) Serna. Placida moved to Clayton with her family as a young child and lived most of her life in Clayton until her husband died and she moved to Stinnett, Texas to live with her daughter. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton. Placida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Malaquias Macario Romero on January 15, 2003 and by 2 sisters; Dorothy Romero and Antonia Salas.
1 DAUGHTER: Mable Cruz of Stinnett, Texas.
2 SONS: Jesse Romero and his wife Sylvia of Borger, Texas and Daniel Romero and his wife Marsha of Tucumcari, New Mexico.
8 GRANDCHILDREN: Ray Cruz and his wife Crystal, James Cruz and his wife Laura, Justin Cruz and his wife Miriam, Jessica Navarrett and her husband Alfred, Jason Romero, Malaqui Romero, Matilda Vasquez and her husband Antonio and Mary Romero.
1 BROTHER: Fernando Salazar and his wife Rafaela of Pueblo, Colorado.
