Albert "Fred" Thelander of Clayton, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico by Shelly Carter. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant.
Albert "Fred" Thelander was born on December 9, 1946, in Orchard, Nebraska, to Kieth and Emma (Anson) Thelander. In high school, Fred played football, basketball, band and ran track. After high school, he and his brother Lynn attended basic training, and served in the Army National Guard together. In 1964, Fred met his best friend and the love of his life, Connie Anson. They established their home and had two children, Melissa and Damon. Fred and Lynn, alongside their father, owned and operated Thelander Auto. In 1985, Fred and Connie relocated to Clayton, where they opened a filling station. Following the ownership of the filling station, Fred was employed by Pogue Wholesale, and the Town of Clayton where he retired after 16 years. Fred had many hobbies that he enjoyed, including hunting, fishing, making jerky, and making memories with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie and Fred spent many afternoons driving around checking his goose blinds, a hobby all of the family was talked into a time or two. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lynn, sister-in-law, Sharon Thelaner and half-brother, Bill, and his father and mother-in-law.

His loving wife of the home, Connie Thelander.
Two children: Melissa (Michael) DeHerrera, Damon (Debra) Thelander, both of Clayton, NM.
One sister, Rita (Monte) Shabram of Orchard, NE.
Sister-in-law, Janet (Roger) Banks of Dalhart, TX.
Brother-in-law, Jerry Anson of Broken Bow, NE.
Seven Grandchildren: Jennifer Romero, Cynthia (B.J) Lujan, Blake (Lisa) Massey, Heather (Trey) Sinclair, Kendra (Travis) Lopez, Chelsie Thelander, Brittany (Anthony) Gonzales.
Sixteen Great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Damian, Dathan, Rance, Josh, Brynley, Kayson, Averi, Derrick, Dustin, Trevin, Sabrina, Kora, Deondre, Deonte, Jaidyn.
Several nieces, nephews and friends.
