Bertha Torres, age 71 , died Friday, March 1, 2013 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 5 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 6, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Glenn Jones, Celebrant. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Bertha Torres was born on April 19, 1941 in Capulin, New Mexico to Celedon Eduardo Gutierrez and Eloyda Eulalie (Gonzales) Gutierrez. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1959. She married Donald Joseph Torres with whom she had six children. Bertha worked as a nurses aid in Albuquerque for several years. She then owned and operated a restaurant in Bernalillo for several years before returning to Clayton where she worked at the Rabbit Ear Café until she retired. Bertha was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Bertha was preceded in death by her mother; Eloyda Gutierrez on December 1, 1987, father Celedon Gutierrez on December 5, 1999 and a son, John L. Torres on February 19, 1983.

3 DAUGHTERS: Roselynn Lugowski and her husband Jim of Farmington, Minnesota, Elizabeth Montoya of Fort Worth, Texas and Patricia Cunningham of Phoenix, Arizona.

2 SONS: Donald J. Torres, II and his fiancé Tammy Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Stevie Torres of Clayton, New Mexico.

Her Partner of 30 years: Felix Maestas of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 STEP-CHILDREN: Kenneth Maestas of Las Vegas, New Mexico and Monica O'Malley of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

4 SISTERS: Connie Vital and her husband Antonio and Terri Sanchez and her husband Tom all of Clayton, New Mexico, Helen Cimini and her husband Tony of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Victoria Trujillo and her husband Gregory of Boise City, Oklahoma.

2 BROTHERS: Gilbert Gutierrez and his wife Prescilla and Julian Gutierrez and his wife Colleen all of Clayton, New Mexico.

11 GRANDCHILDREN: Brandon Lugowski and his fiancé Heidi, Kevin Lugowski and his wife Erin, Jordan Lugowski, Tiffany Barton & her husband Tom, Joey Torres, Jeremy Torres and his wife Kayla, Amber Perez and her husband Desi, Jacob Montoya, Brian Montoya, Arianna Cunningham and John Cunningham.

7 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Josh Barton, Jaden Barton, Gabriella Barton, Kason Torres, Myla Torres, Victoria Whoric and Liam Lugowski.
