Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial was in the Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Leon was born September 26, 1940, in Clayton, New Mexico to Earl and Lettie Duckworth.  He was married to his wife, Carolyn, for 33 years.

Leon was a truck driver by trade and loved making friends wherever he went. There was nothing he liked more than to tell a good story just to make people laugh.  Helping people was another thing that he was good at and it always made him happy.

If you knew Leon, you knew that his big source of pride was his blue and white El Camino.  He kept it sparkling clean and in tip top shape but his biggest source of pride were his wife and his family.  The grandchildren brought him so much joy.  He was there for them anytime they needed him and he spent time with them as much as possible making great memories together.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Duckworth, of the home; a sister, Wanda Kear and husband Don, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a son, Clay King and wife Gloria, of San Marcos; a daughter, Lorri Barnett and husband Karl, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Colton Barnett and wife Destiny, Karlee Sullivan and husband Caleb, Cooper Barnett, Brandon King and Teagan King; and one great-grandchild, Layla.

The family received friends from 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the funeral home.
