Billy Earl Dugan, age 63, of Sedan New Mexico passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a five year battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Clayton Gospel Church in Clayton, NM with Mike Phipps, pastor, and Travis Sullivan officiating. Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Sedan Fire Station in Sedan, NM.
Billy was born February 2, 1953 in Canyon Texas to Billy Glenn Dugan and Phyllis June Long. He graduated from Canyon High School in May 1972. The majority of Billy's life was spent on the farm. At one point he worked for John Deere as a mechanic. When he could get away from the farm he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Billy served as a volunteer fireman for 35 years and 28 of those years were as Chief of the Sedan Fire Department. He also served 2 years as the Union County Wildland Fire Coordinator. He was preceded in death by his parents and two children, Billy Shawn Dugan and Stephanie Dawn Dugan.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Sheri, of the home in Sedan; three daughters, Salana Sullivan and husband, Travis, of Clayton, NM, Brandy Gregory and husband, Chris, of Albuquerque, NM, Trisha Montalvo and husband, Fred, of Las Cruces, NM, two sons, Adam McDonald and wife, Valerie, of Las Cruces, NM, and Seth McDonald of Clayton, NM; twelve grandchildren, Thomas, Camry, Damion, Anthony, Tristan, Matthew, Alexandria, Ashley, Adrian, Daniel, Angel, and Isabella; his mom, Ozie Dugan of Canyon, TX; four sisters, Donna Lancaster of Duncanville, TX, Faye Vest and husband, Jerry, of Olton, TX, Christie Jo Carver and husband, Steve, of Gypsum, CO, Cindy Jeter and husband, Brent, of Springdale, AR, two brothers, Ricky Dugan and wife, Lanette, of Gracemont, OK., Randy Dugan of Canyon, TX; aunts and uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Sedan Volunteer Fire Department.
