Obituary

Billy C. Selders, age 89, died Friday, February 16, 2018 in Deming, New Mexico.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Billy Clyde Selders was born on January 28, 1929 in Clayton, New Mexico to Earl Alva Selders and Ollie L. (Brotherton) Selders. They moved to Escondido, California when Billy was a child and lived in California for several years. He served in the US Navy before returning to Clayton. Billy married Thelma I "Betty" (Hederskog) Selders on September 10, 1953 in Clayton and she preceded him in death on August 18, 1972. Billy and Thelma fostered several children together. Billy married Juanita A. (Goodyear) Selders on June 13, 1991 in Raton, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2016. Billy worked for Kilburn Funeral Home in Clayton for several years and then together with Buck Curry started the EMS program in Union County and trained numerous EMT's over several years. He worked as an LPN at the nursing home in Clayton for many years and then returned to the funeral business working for Hass Funeral Home until last year when he moved to southern New Mexico to live with his son Fred. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clayton for several years. In addition to his two wives and parents, Billy was preceded in death by 3 daughters; Loretta Aragon, Wanda Aragon, and Sandy Rodriguez, 4 brothers; Louis, Philip, Fred & Melvin and 2 sisters; Agnes & Bertha.

SURVIVORS :

2 SONS: Fred Selders and Cathy of Deming, New Mexico and Arthur Plunkett, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas.

4 DAUGHTERS: Vernadell Stoneman and her husband Cleo of Dalhart, Texas, Cynthia Cripe & John of Kansas City, Missouri, Delinda Boque of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Yvonne Plunkett of Clayton, New Mexico.

20 GRANDCHILDREN: Angela, Bessie, Dwayne, Beverly, Lorraine, Isabell, Tanna, Troy, Karl, Travis, Melanie, Louisa, Candace, Justin, Jasmine, Brittani, Joe, Jared, Fred and Heather.

And several Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren.
