Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Clayton Church of Christ with Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Charles Rick McKay was born on August 30, 1943 to Charles Drake McKay and Billy Jane Chatham McKay in Burkburnett, Texas. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1961 and from Hardin Simmons University in 1966. In 1962 he married Bonnie Duncan McKay in Post, Texas. He taught school and coached in Texas from 1966 until 1975 when he and his family relocated to Clayton, New Mexico where he taught school and coached football and track until he retired after serving for forty-one years as an educator and coach. He coached four NM state championship boys' track teams and numerous winning seasons in football. He was awarded the Sports Achievement Award in 1987 and 1989 for football playoffs in the Golden Spread by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Sport Committee and Track Coach of the Year in 1989 by the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame. He was an enthusiastic coach and a devoted teacher who enjoyed interaction with young people. Rick was a member of the Clayton Church of Christ who cared deeply for his church family and students. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

WIFE: Bonnie McKay of Clayton, New Mexico.
1 SON: Todd McKay and his wife Samantha McKay of Lubbock, Texas.
1 DAUGHTER: Paige McKay of Dallas, Texas.
4 GRANDCHILDREN: Chad Lambeth and his wife Christal, Hunter McKay, Colton Lambeth, and Hannah McKay.
