Daniel Flores, age 96, of Clayton, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, surrounded by the love of his family.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow immediately after at Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Daniel Flores was born on September 20, 1928, on the family ranch near Johnson Mesa, Daniel was the son of Cesaria and Alberto Flores. From a young age, he learned the values of hard work while tending sheep and planting beans and potatoes alongside his family. On September 20, 1950, Daniel married his soulmate, Henrietta Gonzales. Their marriage was filled with love, faith, and family, and together they raised five children. Henrietta was the light of his life, and he missed her deeply after her passing. Daniel proudly served his country and remained an active member of the VFW. Known for his steady presence, he enjoyed simple moments with family and friends, especially his weekly Wednesday visits to the sale barn with Carlos and Joan Cornay. Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Henrietta; his parents, Cesaria and Alberto Flores; and his son-in-law, Simon Sandoval.

Clara (Val Miera) – grandchildren Edmund Miera and Valerie Sanchez
Mary Sandoval – grandchildren Joseph Sandoval and Stephan Sandoval
Danny Flores – grandchildren Eric Flores and Elizabeth Moran
Rita (Art Aguilar) – grandchild Taylor Aguilar
Martin Flores – grandchildren Alex Flores, Stevanna Price, and Kayla Flores
He also leaves behind several great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.
Those who knew Daniel will remember his quiet strength, devotion to his family, and the way he always led by example. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will remain forever.
