Dixie Emma Odom, age 93, died on Friday, September 29, 2023, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Dixie Emma (LaRoe) Odom was born on February 4, 1930, in Canyon, Texas to Sam LaRoe and Dail (Evans) LaRoe. She attended school in Happy, Texas and graduated from Happy High School. She attended the University of Alabama and later New Mexico Highlands University where she earned her bachelor's degree in history and journalism. Dixie married Carl E. Odom in December of 1953 and he preceded her in death in July of 1985. Dixie was a member of the Santa Fe Trail Association, and her passions were history, ranching and gardening. In addition to her husband, Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and by her son-in-law, Roy Sauble.

1 DAUGHTER: Martha Sauble of Maxwell, New Mexico.

3 GRANDCHILDREN: Carla Enderle and her husband DJ of Monte Vista, Colorado, Cathy Sauble and her husband Quinten Martinez and Patrick Sauble and his wife Ellen all of Maxwell, New Mexico.

7 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jonathon Enderle, Evan Enderle, Addison Enderle, Carter Allmand, Axel Martinez, Brighton Sauble and Lila Sauble.
