Elias Fernando Martinez, age 94, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 5, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton with Fr. Joel Bugas, Celebrant. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Elias Fernando Martinez was born on December 29, 1919 in Miera, New Mexico to Aniceto Martinez and Rosenda Maria (Montoya) Martinez. A lifelong resident of Union County, Elias married Beatrice (Gonzales) Martinez on September 14, 1940 in Clayton, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2001. Elias joined the US Army during WWII and he was awarded the Bronze Star. Elias was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton. In addition to his parents and wife, Elias was preceded in death by a brother, Nestor Martinez and two sisters, Otelia Archuleta and Grace Garcia.

6 DAUGHTERS: Dorothy C de Baca and her husband John, Rebecca Sundberg, Anna Archuleta and her husband Freddie and Louellen Martinez all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nora Silva and her husband Fred of Los Lunas, New Mexico and Roma Clay and her husband Jan of Vancouver, Washington.

3 SONS: Orlando Martinez and his wife Toni of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dennis Martinez of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Ric Martinez and his wife Christine of Seattle, Washington.

3 BROTHERS: Severo Martinez and his wife Amadita of Perico, Texas and Louis Martinez and his wife Virginia and Conrad Martinez all of Keyes, Oklahoma.

And numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
