Elizabeth A. Hayes, age 84, died on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Elizabeth A. (Poindexter) Hayes was born on November 26, 1937, in Edmond, Oklahoma to George Clifford Poindexter and Goldie Elizabeth (Woodring) Poindexter. She graduated from Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended Central State University where she earned her bachelor's degree. Elizabeth later earned her master's degree in Early Childhood Developmental Education. Elizabeth married David Hayes on June 23, 1959, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They moved to Clayton in the summer of 1989 and Elizabeth taught first grade in Clayton for a year and then she developed the preschool program and taught preschool until she retired in 2001. Elizabeth was very well known for all of her blue ribbons that she won in the county fair, from her pickled beets to her many jams and more. She was a member of the Federated Women's Club and the book club. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, Clifford Edward Poindexter, Gary Lee Poindexter and Danny Lynn Poindexter.

HUSBAND: David Hayes of Clayton, New Mexico.
2 DAUGHTERS: Julie Hayes of Prescott, Arizona and Shelly Kerr and her husband Clint of Springtown, Texas.
1 SON: Carson Hayes of Clayton, New Mexico.
4 GRANDCHILDREN: Jesse Lee Estupinan and James Paul Estupinan both of Shrevport, Louisiana and Dane Thomas Kerr and his wife Stesha and Kelsey Elizabeth Kerr all of Walters, Oklahoma.
1 GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER: Evie Jean Kerr of Walters, Oklahoma.
2 GREAT-GRANDSONS: Jasee Estupinan and Jesse Estupinan.
1 BROTHER: Dale Poindexter of Edmund, Oklahoma.
