Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Jeff Bayley officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Eloise "Weezy" Beatty was born on February 16, 1918 in Texline, Texas to Walter Acker Poole and Minnie Cora (White) Poole. To those who knew Lois Eloise "Weezy" Poole Beatty, they knew a woman with a heart of gold, contagious laugh, and a zest for life. A legendary figure to many, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, friend and teacher. Her greatest joy was to welcome family and friends into her home. Weezy never met a stranger. In March of 1943, she courageously ventured to Quantico, Virginia, to marry the love of her life, Ulmer Beatty. When her handsome Marine went to war, she returned home to Clayton to resume her teaching career which lasted over 40 years, during which she was selected as New Mexico Teacher of the Year (1979-1980). As a teacher, Weezy influenced the lives of hundreds of children, but her most treasured were her own, Dotty and Fred. Ulmer and Weezy were richly blessed with granddaughters, Emily and Lisa, who christened them Grandpaw and Baga. Great grandchildren, Braily and Dayton, doubly blessed Baga this past year. In addition to her immediate family, Weezy embraced four generations of nieces and nephews who now live out her Friday morning mantra: "Remember, you represent your home, your school, your church, your family, your community and your nation. Whatever you do reflects on us." A favorite past-time was "remembering when." Weezy was a gifted story-teller and a cunning bridge player. She started every day with a cup of coffee, a bible study and a cross-word puzzle. Cross-stitched Christmas stockings and hand-knitted blankets were just one of the ways Weezy wrapped those close to her in everlasting love. To have a friend, one must be a friend and Weezy was. What she loved most about life was sharing food, flowers, laughter and love with friends, of which Weezy had many because she lived Matthew 19:19—Love thy neighbor as thyself. In addition to her parents Eloise was preceded in death by her husband Ulmer Beatty on April 19, 2004, a sister, Lucille Hall and a brother, Harry Poole.

1 SON: Fred Beatty and his wife Lanoma of Canyon, Texas.

2 GRANDCHILDREN: Emily Moore and her husband Brandon of Amarillo, Texas and Lisa Hagar and her husband Dallas of Frisco, Texas.

2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Braily Cora Moore of Amarillo, Texas and Dayton Beatty Hagar of Frisco, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Weezy requested donations be made to the Clayton Memorial Cemetery fund or a children's home of your choice.
