Obituary

Emma L Garcia, age 70, died on Thursday, July 27, 2023, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 31, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Emma L. Garcia was born on November 2, 1952, in Capulin, New Mexico to Cresenciano Garcia and Elsie (Salazar) Garcia. Emma was preceded in death by her father Cresenciano Garcia, two brother-in-laws Richard Tomlinson, and John Garcia, two infant siblings, Johnny and Martha, a Granddaughter, Adalee Sarai Martinez.

MOTHER: Elsie Garcia of Clayton, New Mexico

4 DAUGHTERS: Kimberly Vasquez and her husband Jorge of Amarillo, TX, Bridget Maestas of Peñasco, New Mexico, Farah Sandoval and her husband Joseph of Dumas, Texas and Alaina Garcia of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 SON: Eric Garcia of Clayton, New Mexico

SON-IN-LAW: Ray Maestas of Clayton, New Mexico

15 GRANDCHILDREN and 6 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN

1 SISTER: Dorothy Tomlinson of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

3 BROTHERS: Henry Garcia and his wife Stella of Farwell, New Mexico, Charles Garcia and his wife Diana of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tim Garcia and Michael Hankinson of Florida.

3 SISTER-IN-LAWS: Beatrice George of Garden City, Kansas and Leonora Howell and her husband James, and Sandra Garcia of Sampson, New Mexico

3 BROTHER-IN-LAWS: Ferdinand Garcia III and his wife Kay, Jerry Garcia and his wife Cleo all of Clayton, New Mexico, and Leon Garcia of Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Auntie Em had many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

Emma Garcia graduated from Clayton High School in 1970. She married Eli H. Garcia in 1971 and was a stay-at-home mother for 13 years. Emma then started working as a baker at Clayton Ranch Market along with various other jobs in between. To spend time with her many grandchildren, Emma made the decision to retire in 2018. Emma spent the remainder of her days enjoying the company of her children, brothers, sisters, mother, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Emma Garcia passed away in the company of family in Clayton, New Mexico on July 27,2023. She was loved and adored by all her family and friends.
