Obituary

Evangelina Sisneros, age 94, of Clayton, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Clayton, New Mexico.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, September 12, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Joji Konkala as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Evangelina (Gonzales) Sisneros was born on January 5, 1931, in Pasamonte, New Mexico to Maclovio Gonzales and Senida (Sandoval) Gonzales. She married Joe Estevan Sisneros on February 18, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 25, 1982.  Evangelina, along with her husband Joe operated their ranch for several years, after he died she continued operating the ranch until 2013 when her kids took over operations, Evangelina was very well respected by all the area ranchers. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the ladies altar society and a member of the Sacred Heart. She taught catechism for many years and was a member of the Rosary Makers Club at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho and received a plaque for making one hundred and eleven thousand rosaries. She loved playing bingo and was very adventurous, she even went on a helicopter ride. In addition to her parents and husband, Evangelina was preceded in death by 1 son, Joe Louis Sisneros, 1 daughter, Connie Morales, 1 son-in-law, Frank Morales, 1 brother, Nabor Gonzales and 2 sisters, Caroline Abeyta and Rita Aragon.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Martina Sisneros of Clayton, New Mexico.

4 SONS: Herman Vigil and his wife Linda of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Steve Sisneros and his wife Barbara of Amarillo, Texas, Raymond Sisneros and his wife Dorothy of Des Moines, New Mexico and Abade Sisneros and his wife Amanda of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Patsy Sisneros McClure of Denver, Colorado.

1 SISTER: Joan M. Padilla of Clayton, New Mexico.

And numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
