Obituary

Floyd J. Daves, age 91, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at his home in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Clayton Gospel Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Mike Phipps, pastor officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Floyd Daves was born on January 20, 1920 in Union County, New Mexico to James Robert Daves and Pearl (Ford) Daves. As a young boy Floyd worked with his father and built dams on the Raton Highway. He graduated from Clayton High School and served in the US Army in the Philippines during WWII. Floyd married Vaunita (Green) Daves on January 4, 1940 in Clayton, New Mexico. He worked for the Colorado Interstate Gas Company for many years and retired in 1983 and returned to ranching in the Clapham area. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Oleta Daves at age 3 and Lois Webb on August 30, 1993.

WIFE: Vaunita Daves of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 DAUGHTER: Sandy Sturges and her husband Tom of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 SISTER: Billie Depue of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 BROTHER: Frank Daves of Clayton, New Mexico.
