Freddy A. Zinck, age 86, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Matador, Texas.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 20, 2011, in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with his granddaughter, Theresa Zinck Spartz officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Freddy A. Zinck was born on January 29, 1925, in Otto, NM, to Fred Christian Zinck and Elfa G. "Goldie" (Scofield) Zinck. A 1943 graduate of Clayton High School, Freddy married Billie Virginia Pope on August 25, 1946, in Clayton, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2003. A veteran of WWII, Freddy served as Union County Treasurer from 1955 to 1958, and in 1957 he and Billie Virginia purchased the Nu-Way café which they operated until 1997. For the past few years he had lived in Floydada, Texas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leon R. "Sleepie" Zinck in 1986 and Archie H. Zinck in 1997, his son Craig Zinck on July 13, 2005, and his daughter Cherie Zinck on September 2, 2006.

His Daughters-in-law: Mary Lou Zinck of South Plains, Texas, and Billie Knight of Wellington, Texas.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Phillip Zinck and his wife Jessica of Harlingen, Texas; Theresa Spartz and her husband John also of Harlingen, Texas; Sara Zinck and her husband Lance Morse of Dallas, Texas; Heather Zinck of Wellington, Texas and Michael Annunziato and his wife Theresa of South Plains, Texas.

11 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Phillip's children, Emma and Paige Zinck; Theresa's children, Amanda, Riley and Madison; Sara's daughter, Evan Morse; Heather's children, Forest, Grant and Karver; and Michael's children, Berry and Alece.
