Obituary

Hazel Marie (Kornele) Ragan, age 94, died Friday, February 15, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas.

Graveside Services were held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with John Prater, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Hazel Marie (Kornele) Ragan was born on September 18, 1918 in Woodward County, Oklahoma to Dale William Kornele and Leona Mae (Rickett) Kornele. Her family moved to the Grandview community in Union County, New Mexico when she was eight years old. Hazel married Riley Nolan Ragan on June 14, 1935 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1980. After their marriage they moved to Golden, Colorado and later to Arvada, Colorado before returning to Clayton, New Mexico in 1953. After her husband died, Hazel remained in Clayton for a few years before moving to Shallowater, Texas to be closer to her daughter. In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by a sister; Pansy Reeser and a brother; Frank Kornele.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Roena Toombs of Shallowater, Texas.

1 SISTER: Fern Runcorn of Rogersville, Missouri.

1 GRANDSON: Larry Toombs and his wife Margarita of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

2 GRANDDAUGHTERS: Sherry Pittenger and her husband Danny of Hubertus, Wisconsin and Martina Bauer and her husband Tom of Edwall, Washington.

11 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Daniel Justin Pittenger, Sarah Simanson, Roz Giumon, Robert Schneider, Aaron Toombs, Nathan Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Toombs, Kimberly Hammel, Jennifer Colvin, Katie Schruam and Tori Bauer.
