Helen L. (Argebright) Yeargain, age 81, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in Raton, New Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 3rd at the Des Moines School Gym. Burial will follow in the Des Moines Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Helen L. (Argenbright) Yeargain was born on May 20, 1942 in Roswell, New Mexico to Henry Edgar Argenbright and Allie May (Altom)  Argenbright. She graduated from High School in Roswell in 1960 and worked for Sears for seven years. Helen married Jesse Lee Yeargain on April 30, 1961 in Roswell, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2019.  They spent 10 months in Tucumcari and then moved to Des Moines where they put down their roots. Helen worked for the State highway Department from 1971 to 1999 when she retired, and for the EMS in Des Moines from 1980 until 1999 when she retired. Helen also worked as a substitute teacher with the Des Moines School for 10 years and loved it. She moved to Clayton in 2019 to be closer to her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by their daughter, Theresa (Yeargain) Valdez on November 16, 2021.

1 GRANDDAUGHTER: Ashlee Martinez and her husband Sean of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Lakin Martinez & Laci Martinez of Clayton, New Mexico.

MEMORIALS: In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Helen's memory to the Des Moines Ambulance Service, Grenville Ambulance Service or the Folsom Ambulance Service.
