Jack Wendall Pagett, age 90, went to be with Jesus, on December 17, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Jack Pagett was born on April 11, 1932, in his uncle's home in Clayton, NM to Leo and Zelma (Lockhart) Pagett. Jack attended and graduated from Clayton High School. Jack and his siblings were raised on the family homestead at Pennington. Farming and ranching was the family business. Jack worked as a ranch hand on several ranches including the Ferol Smith Ranch near Des Moines where he and Violet worked and lived for 8 years. Jack was drafted into the Army and was stationed in France during the Korean War. Jack went to work ranching after his stint in the military.

Jack Pagett married Violet Wiseman on August 24, 1955, in Raton, NM. Jack and Violet had three daughters, Karen Curry, Colleen Johnston and Marsha Pagett and one son, Gary Pagett. Jack was a true cowboy and loved the ranch life. Jack worked for others doing what he loved until he was able to purchase the family (his granddad's) homestead/ranch from his parents in March of 1965, where he and Violet raised their 4 children. Jack and Violet lived and worked on the family ranch for around 40 years before moving to Clayton full time and turning the ranch over to their 4 children. Before Jack and Violet left the ranch to their children, they were able to purchase the Lockhart homestead which was Jack's mother's (Zelma (Lockhart) Pagett) family homestead as well as other land attached to that land including the Pennington school.

Jack bought cattle from as far away as Alabama and always waited anxiously for their arrival. At which time Jack and Violet and their children when they were home, branded and worked cattle. They leased other ranches around the area. After their children left, Jack and Violet continued to run cattle on the ranch on wheat and sugar beets in Texas and had cattle in different feedlots.

Jack Pagett was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Zelma Pagett, his sister Wallene Banks, brothers Victor "Vic" Pagett, Lavon Pagett and Ronnie Pagett.

Jack is survived by his loving and caring wife of 67 years, Violet Pagett, his 3 daughters, Karen Curry and her husband Steve of Pennington, NM, Colleen Johnston and her husband Lee of Clayton, NM and Marsha Pagett of Clayton, NM and his son Gary Pagett and his wife Tena of Tulsa, OK.

9 Grandchildren; Dustin Curry and his wife Lori of Lumberton, TX, Russell Curry of Albuquerque, NM, Tara Siebrasse and her husband JJ of Euless, TX, Gena Ford of Enid, OK, Heather Phipps and her husband Shane of Clayton, NM, Tracy Bates of Clayton, NM, Cassie Newton and her husband Justin of Clayton, NM, Ransom Pagett and his wife Jack Odell of Oklahoma City, OK and Creighton Pagett of Hawaii.

22 Great-grandchildren; Jack, Jeanna and Josey Curry, Eli and Michallie "Callie" Lewis and her fiancé Brandyn Burns, Amber "Nikki", Joey, Aleena and Jailex Siebrasse, Joshua "Josh" Arrington and his wife Amanda, Ashley Medlock, Jaxson Ford, Hadden Wiseman, Roper Wiseman, Josh, Justin and Jesse Phipps, Devon Bates, Janessa Wade, Callie Bates and Jayden and Jace Newton.

8 Great-great-grandchildren; Isaiah Vasquez, Monique Ernst, Bailey Matthews, Landyn and Myla Burns, Dalton "DJ" Arrington-Braiden,  Kelton Arrington and Alexandrea Phipps.
