Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday April 5, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Glenn Jones, Celebrant. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors in Clayton, New Mexico.

James Glennon "Jimmy" Day, Jr. was born on April 5, 1937 in Dalhart, Texas to James G. Day and Bessie (Neal) Day. Jimmy was an athlete in his day and was known by most as "Mr. Basketball". He graduated from high school in 1955 and worked as a surveyor for the State of New Mexico until he was drafted into the US Army where he surveyed for the 931st engineers until the Army found out how good he played basketball, then he did a lot less surveying and played a lot of basketball at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. After he returned from the Military, Jimmy returned to surveying for the State of New Mexico. He married Sydney (Farlow) Day on December 31, 1959 in Clayton, New Mexico. Jimmy and his family moved home to Clayton in 1963 where he did construction and other various occupations before he started work for the US Postal Service where he worked for 32 years and retired in 1998. During a lot of that time he also was the distributor for the Amarillo Globe News. He got up every morning at 3:00 AM to deliver the papers and then went to work at the Post Office. Jimmy enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a sister; Peggy Zagar.

1 SON: James G. "Trey" Day, III and his wife Jani of Montoya, New Mexico.

1 DAUGHTER: Debbie Reeves and her husband Craig of Clayton, New Mexico.

4 GRANDCHILDREN: Cory Schnaufer and his wife Catalina of Columbia, South America, Quinton Day and his wife Candice and Sharisa Landis all of Amarillo, Texas and Denae Reeves Clayton, New Mexico.

7 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Makayla Schnaufer, Nash Schnaufer, Isabella Schnaufer, Nicolas Schnaufer, Kensey Day, Kelsey Day and Kymbre Landis.

2 BROTHERS: Charlie Day and Woody Day
