It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jim Bass of Felt, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Central Time on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the New Horizon Church of Felt, Oklahoma with Rev. Jeff Bayley and Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Jim loved the simple things in life. He especially loved sun rises from the back of his horse, laughing with his family and a good competitive card game. Jim Bass was born on Tuesday, January 9, 1951, in Clayton, New Mexico to Leroy and Mary Jo Bass. Jim married Verlene (Tyler) Bass in Clayton, New Mexico on March 31, 1972. From this union, four children were born: Jason, Jered, Chell and Sara. He was a cowboy his entire life until his retirement in 2016. In which he returned to his roots of Felt, Oklahoma.
SURVIVORS:
WIFE: Verlene Bass of Felt, Oklahoma.
2 SONS: Jason Bass and his wife Missy of Amarillo, Texas and Jered Bass and his wife Leona of Gruver, Texas.
2 DAUGHTERS: Chell Price and her husband Chris of House, New Mexico and Sara Proffitt and her husband Chad of Roy, New Mexico.
GRANDCHILDREN: Justin and Jynna Bass, Kaysha and Klancy Best, Jesse and Kathleen Bucknell, Shelby and Jayton Stapleton, Sierra and Meagan Bass, Stoney and Haize Price and Tayla and Charly Proffitt.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Barrett, Lettie Jo, Jolee, Paiten, Elaney, Haven, Lakin, Scarlett, Hondo and Jaycee.
1 BROTHER: Danny Bass and his wife Mendy of Felt, Oklahoma.
1 SISTER: Nona Whitney and her husband Bruce of Felt, Oklahoma.
His church family and countless friends, especially his Thursday night card playing buddies.
MEMORIALS: The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jim's memory to either the New Horizons Church in Felt or to the Felt Community Center.
