Johnny Ray Rael, age 51, died Sunday, February 27, 2011, in Amarillo, Texas.
Rosary was recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 4, at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Glenn Jones and Deacon P. Louis Montoya, officiating. Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 7, at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Johnny Ray Rael was born on November 29, 1959 in Clayton, New Mexico to Rosendo Rael and Virginia (Garcia) Rael. He attended Highland High School in Albuquerque and then joined the Army National Guard where he worked the prison riot in Santa Fe. Johnny moved to Clayton and went to work for the Town of Clayton for a few years and then went to College. He attended Eastern New Mexico University and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He returned to Clayton and worked for the State of New Mexico as a social worker for several years. Johnny returned to college and was working on his Masters Degree when he got sick. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, by 3 sisters; Juanita Rael, Pauline Moreland and Jean Talley, 4 brothers; Charlie Rael, Richard Rael, Joe Rael, Jr. and Jose Manuel Rael, 2 brothers-in-law; Joe Simoés and Jim Talley and a sister-in-law,; Irene Rael.

6 SISTERS: Dorothy Sanchez and her husband Donato of Bernalillo, New Mexico, Belen Simoés of Portales, New Mexico, Addie Montoya and her husband Louis and Lucine Montoya and her husband Tom all of Clayton, New Mexico, Mercedes Merecki and her husband Bruce of Tucson, Arizona and Patsy McDonald and her husband Pete of Denver, Colorado.
5 BROTHERS: Leo Rael and his wife Paula of South Bend, Indiana, Dennis Rael and his wife Judy of Amarillo, Texas, Dominic Rael and his wife JoJo of Clayton, New Mexico, Cass Rael and his wife Tina of St. Petersburg, Florida and Fred Rael and his fiancé Sylvia of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
