Joseph B. Gaines, 63, of Dalhart, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2018.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church located at 1311 E 16 ^th Street, Dalhart, TX. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Home of Clayton, New Mexico.

Joseph B. Gaines was born on April 9, 1955 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Joseph Selmon Gaines, Jr. and Donna Jean (Blair) Gaines. He was united in marriage to Carla Unger on August 23, 1974 and this union was blessed by two children. Joe graduated from Amarillo High School in 1973. The family moved to Dalhart in 1978 where Joe was employed as a welder for R&R Machine Shop and then traveled the country as a pipeline welder. Joe was a proud union member of Pipeliners Local 798. He was an avid hunter and a member of the NRA. He loved woodworking, forging knives and model trains. He took great pride in sons and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by father, Joseph Selmon Gaines, Jr., his stepfather, John Bishop and his sister, Julie Blair.

WIFE: Carla Gaines of Dalhart, Texas.

2 SONS: Joe W. Gaines and his wife Stephanie of Dalhart, Texas and Cody B. Gaines of Round Rock, Texas.

HIS MOTHER: Donna Bishop of Amarillo, Texas.

4 GRANDCHILDREN: Madison, Joseph and Emily Gaines all of Dalhart, Texas and Lyla Gaines of Round Rock, Texas.

1 BROTHER: Judd Bishop of Houston, Texas.

And several nieces and nephews including: Landon Blair and his wife Scarlette of San Antonio, Texas.
