Leslie C. Fielden, age 95, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Graveside Services were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jay Jones, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clayton officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Les Fielden was born on September 24, 1916 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and grew up near Grenada, Colorado and Gladstone, New Mexico. After graduating from Farley High School he worked drilling wells throughout Union, Harding and Colfax counties of New Mexico. He met his wife of 64 years, Joy P. (Campbell) Fielden of Wichita Falls, Texas, while drilling wells on the Red River Ranch southeast of Springer, New Mexico. They were married in Clayton on May 14, 1938. In the ensuing years they had two children (Henry and Jessie) while he worked on numerous construction jobs throughout New Mexico and spent five years working on the Ft. Worth & Denver - Burlington Railroad out of Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1947 they moved to Farley, New Mexico where they owned and operated the Fielden Mercantile Store for more than 10 years. After living in Albuquerque for a short time they moved back to Clayton in 1959 where they built a home and he established and operated L. C. Fielden Refrigeration Service for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy on November 16, 2002, his parents William C. and Jessie Mae Fielden, brother Leroy Fielden and 2 sisters Lella Lewis and Janet Fleming.

1 DAUGHTER: Jessie Lee Fielden and her husband Ronald Langley of Oceanside, California.

1 SON: Henry L. Fielden and his wife Patricia of West Chester, Ohio.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Heidi Cervi, Cindy Baker, David Baker, Gwendolyn Fielden-Fritz and William Fielden and their spouses.

11 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

1 SISTER: Agnes Hoffman of Riverside, California.

1 BROTHER: William Clark Fielden of Richmond, Virginia.

BROTHERS/SISTER-IN-LAW: Douglas Campbell of Kansas City, Kansas, William Campbell of San Antonio, Texas and Emma Sisk of Springtown, Texas.
