Marjorie McLaughlin, age 94, died Monday, November 22, 2010 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Marjorie Ruth (Tennis) McLaughlin was born on November 11, 1916 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Everatt A. Tennis and Jeannette (Leonhardt) Tennis. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1934 and attended college in Las Vegas before returning to Clayton where she taught school for one year at the Big Springs School North of Clayton. Marjorie married Stanley Loris McLaughlin on May 27, 1935 in Raton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1993. They lived in the Cuates Community 28 miles North of Clayton and moved to Clayton in 1942. Stanley went to work for the Colorado Interstate Gas Company at the Clayton Booster Station. They later moved to the Cimarron Booster Station and Marjorie ran the boarding house where she served 3 meals a day and sometimes fed over 30 men per day. They returned to the Clayton Booster Station and she ran the boarding house there for two years. They went back to the Cimarron Booster Station and then to the Kit Carson Booster Station near Lamar, Colorado and then to the Keys Booster Station where Stanley retired in 1976. They moved back to Clayton in 1978. In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Reba Kay Garrison, 1 great-granddaughter; Ashli Hittson, 2 brotherss; Glenn Tennis and Bill Tennis, 3 sisters; Anna Zinck, Laura McVean and Bettye Haggerton, 1 son-in-law; Billy Hittson and 1 sister-in-law; Wanda Hughes.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Beulah Hittson of Des Moines, New Mexico.

3 GRANDCHILDREN: Barbara Zinck and her husband Mitch of Texline, Texas, Mark Hittson and his wife Delly of Amarillo, Texas and Barry Hittson and his wife Shannon of Des Moines, New Mexico.

6 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Travis Zinck and his wife Carrie and Michael Hittson all of Amarillo, Texas, Amber Zinck of Nashville, Tennessee and Makenna Hittson, Will Hittson and Weston Hittson all of Des Moines, New Mexico.

2 GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Azelynn Zinck and Mayzie Zinck both of Amarillo, Texas.

1 BROTHER-IN-LAW: Don Haggerton of San Marcos, Texas.

MEMORIALS: The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Clayton, or the Clayton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or to the Billy Hittson Memorial Scholarship Fund care of the Des Moines School.
