Obituary

Mary Virginia Alcorta, age 78, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday November 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Hass Funeral Home in Clayton with P. Louis Montoya, Officiating. Burial followed in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Mary Virginia Alcorta was born on September 30, 1932, in Clayton, New Mexico to Sofia Alcorta. Mary graduated from Clayton High School and became a Nunn and served at Mt. Sacred Heart Convent in San Antonio, Texas for 14 years. Mary joined the US Navy and served as active and reserve for 20 years, retiring in September of 1985. While in the Navy, Mary earned her teaching degree and worked as a teacher and also for the Texas Teachers Association for 21 years and retired in 1998. In addition to her mother, Mary was preceded in death by 1 sister; Leah Padilla on May 16, 2006 and 2 brothers; Andrew Alcorta and Joseph Alcorta.

SURVIVORS:

2 BROTHERS: William Alcorta and his wife Erma of Clayton, NM, and Johnny Alcorta and his wife Doris of Denver, CO.

2 SISTERS-IN-LAW: Andrew's wife, Barbara Alcorta of Denver, CO, and Joseph's wife, Idolina Alcorta of San Juan, Texas.

Mary was loved by all of her nieces and nephews in San Juan, Texas, all of her nieces in Clayton, New Mexico and all of her nieces and nephews in Denver, Colorado.
