Mary Frances Sedillo Shaw, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at her daughter's home with Bonnie at her side, after a two-year four-month battle with cancer.
Viewing will be on Saturday, January 29th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lighthouse Church in Raton, New Mexico and Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM following the viewing with Monty McGowan, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Springer Cemetery in Springer, New Mexico. Due to covid, masks will be required, and no meal will be served.
Mary Frances was born on October 2, 1949 in Colmor, NM to Juan J. Sedillo and Beatrice (Perea) Sedillo, the youngest of 7 children. Shortly after she was born the family moved to Springer, NM. It was there where she attended Springer Schools and graduated in the class of 1967. In 1969 she married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Lee Shaw, Jr. and they were married for 52 years and to this union they raised 5 children. Mary Frances worked for the Springer Schools as the Principal's Secretary. In 1986 the family moved to Raton. Mary Frances worked for the Tourist Information Center in Raton and then became head desk clerk for the Super 8 Motel in Raton. After all of her children graduated from Raton High School, Mary Frances and Jimmy moved back to Springer. Mary Frances was a resident of Springer up until September 11, 2021 when she was placed in Hospice and moved back to Raton to live with her daughter Bonnie until her passing. Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Juan J. and Beatrice Sedillo, her brothers, Juan M. Sedillo, Bernave Sedillo and Richard Sedillo as an infant, her sisters, Madlene Lopez and spouse Ray Lopez and Loretta Trujillo and spouse Seferino Trujillo, 1 son, Brian Ray Shaw and 1 grandson, Cole Baker. The children of Mary Frances would like to offer a big thank you to the Anvoi Hospice Team, Robin Pilley, Connie Shields and Tanya Lovato, and also to Joe Romero from Trinidad and Nancy Paulich from Raton. You all helped mom with words of encouragement and uplifting gestures every time you visited or made a phone call to Mary Frances in the final time of her life. Mary Frances was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The children of Mary Frances can be contacted at 179 Grant Avenue in Raton. Mary Frances is survived by her husband, Jimmy Lee Shaw, Jr. of Springer, New Mexico, 4 children, Bonnie Shaw and Joe Romero of Raton, New Mexico, Bruce Shaw of Fort Worth, Texas, Brent Shaw of Jackson, Wyoming and Bryanna Baker and husband Buddy, Jr. of Mechanicsville, Virginia, 1 sister, Gloria Sanford and her husband Wilbur of Boise City, Oklahoma and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

fund that has been set up by her daughter Bryanna Baker to help with medical and funeral expenses.
