Merle H. Callis, age 89, died Saturday, April 16, 2011, in Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton with Pastor Mark Honeycutt, pastor of the Clayton Church of God, officiating. Burial followed in the Texline Cemetery in Texline, Texas by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Merle H. Callis was born on February 8, 1922 at the family home in Sedan, New Mexico to Henry Edward Callis and Bertie (Shilling) Callis. A lifelong resident of the Sedan Community, Merle served in the US Army during WWII and then returned to the Sedan Community. He was a member of the Church of God in Clayton, New Mexico. In addition to his parents, Merle was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Helen Maxine Bebb, Sybil Bebb, Ora Phelps and Pauline Nelson, 1 brother; Charley Callis and 1 daughter-in-law; Becky Callis.

2 DAUGHTERS: Dana McNickle and her husband Hal of Phoenix, Arizona and Andrea Esquivel and her husband Oscar of Clayton, New Mexico.
3 SONS: Gary Callis and his wife Cheryl of Texline, Texas, Randy Callis and his wife Jacque of Clayton, New Mexico and Wendell Callis of Sedan, New Mexico.
9 GRANDCHILDREN: Mark Barnhart and his wife Kelly and Terra Ramirez and her husband George all of Phoenix, Arizona, Adrienne Graves, Tim Callis and his wife Nikki and Kimberly Sanchez and her husband Steve all of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chelsea Combs and her husband Chris of Portales, New Mexico, Jerrod Callis of Tennessee, Holly Callis of College Station, Texas and Shawn Callis of Clayton, New Mexico.
3 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kharissa Dowell, Paytn Ramirez and Taylor Sanchez.
1 SISTER: Myrtle Murphy and her husband Ed of Yukon, Oklahoma.
1 BROTHER: Andy Callis and his wife Wilma of Lela Lake, Texas.
