Michael Lynn Schmidt was born on March 27, 1969, to Kenneth and Anita Unruh Schmidt in Denver, CO. He quietly passed away on March 21, 2024, in Amarillo, TX.

Michael's early childhood years were spent in Greeley, CO. He moved with his folks to Montezuma, KS at the age of 10. He was baptized on December 9, 1981, by Loyd Nightingale at the Montezuma congregation. After finishing his education, he worked with his dad on the farm. Michael and I fell in love when I went to teach school in Montezuma. After a year and a half of teaching we got married in the spring on March 29, 1992. We spent the first few months together in Montezuma. We then moved to Texline, TX to a little white house to farm. He farmed for five years before starting an irrigation business to which he gave his name, Schmidt Irrigation. The last few years were spent driving tractor and outside in his garden, which produced far more than he could use. We loved all the vegetables, fruit, and herbs that he generously shared with us.

Those left to cherish fond memories are his wife, JoAnn; his children, Lance and Val, Texline, TX; Mark and Lori, Texline, TX; Deann and Clay Grandview, ID; Alex; and 5 grandchildren, Emma, Brayden, Tatem, Erik, and Mason.

Funeral services will be on March 24, 2024, 10:30 at Texline Mennonite Church.
