Obituary

Nellie Vandiver, age 72, died Friday, June 8, 2012, in Dalhart, Texas.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton with Rev. Jay Jones, pastor and Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial followed in the Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Nellie Vandiver was born on February 17, 1940 in Quemado, New Mexico to Joe Wheeler Reeser and Hettie Odessa (Green) Reeser. Nellie married Eddy Ray Vandiver on June 21, 1958 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1987. Nellie farmed and ranched with her husband in the Sedan area until his death in 1987. She owned and operated the Sedan Mercantile for several years. Nellie also worked as the clothing manager at Gibson's in Dalhart, worked for Alsups and worked for the dairy near Sedan for several years. Her most recent job was working as the mail coordinator for the Texas Department of Criminal justice at the Dalhart unit which she recently retired from. In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by an infant son; Samuel Richard Vandiver in 1959 and by 5 brothers; Irvin Reeser, J. W. Reeser, Chester Reeser, Wayne Reeser and Billy Reeser.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Jeanie Randall and her husband Jay of Chandler, Arizona.

2 SONS: Michael Vandiver and his wife Cynthia of Sedan, New Mexico and Jesse Vandiver and his wife Janae of Clayton, New Mexico.

Her companion for the last 22 years: Robert Hollingsworth of Sedan, New Mexico.

8 GRANDCHILDREN: Jaymes, Jessica, Jacquelyn, Julie, Andrew, Tucker, Zane and Carson.

2 STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: April and Crystal2 Step-Great-grandchildren

2 SISTERS: Faye Stice of Tahoka, Texas and Louise Hines of Burleson, Texas.

And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
