Graveside services were held at 3:00 P.M. Central Time on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Texline Cemetery in Texline, Texas by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Patty Carter was born on July 27, 1938 in Dalhart, Texas to Allen Benson Smith and Esther Louise (Schellenberg) Smith. She married Alfred Aaron "Sonny" Carter on November 30, 1956 in Dalhart, Texas and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1984. Patty was a resident of Texline until 1987 when she moved to Clayton. She worked as an accountant for N. O. Brane and Company for many years and later worked privately as an accountant for several more years. In addition to her husband, Patty was preceded in death by her father on November 9, 1990, her mother on February 28, 1978 and by two brothers; Lawrence Leroy Smith on November 15, 2000 and Kenneth Allen Smith on August 11, 2002.

SURVIVORS:

1 SON: Troy Carter of Amarillo, Texas.

2 DAUGHTERS: Karen Cooper and her husband David of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Crystal Howe and her husband Matt of Borger, Texas.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Tosha Grosch, Chris Rice, Kristin vanReenen and her husband Dirk, Jamie Hetzel and Schyler Carter.

7 great-grandchildren

Niece: Sondra Miera and her husband J.D. of Clayton, New Mexico.

Nephew: Larry Smith and his wife Amy of Dalhart, Texas.
