Pernecia McKay, age 84, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Lubbock, Texas.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10th 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage, Pastor officiating. Burial followed in the Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Pernecia May (Pipkin) McKay was born on August 10, 1926 in Pratt, Kansas to Ernest Pipkin and Edith (Sutton) Pipkin. She attended school in Clayton, New Mexico and graduated from Clayton High School in 1945. Pernecia married Omer McKay on November 4, 1944 in Portales, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on September 10, 1981. They Farmed and Ranched together for many years. Pernecia was a member of the South Plains Lyons Club, the Plainview Extension Club and served on the Union County Fair Board for many years. Omer and Pernecia worked together for many years as the President and Secretary of Farm Bureau and Pernecia worked for Northrup King for 25 years. In addition to her parent and husband, Pernecia was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Rogene Pernecia Jenkinson on December 5, 1991, a son-in-law; Donald Wellendorf on February 15, 2009, 1 sister; Nadine Shields and by 2 brothers; Everet Pipkin and Kenneth Pipkin.

1 DAUGHTER: Geraldine Wellendorf of Lubbock, Texas.
3 SONS: Ronald McKay and his wife Marion of Dalhart, Texas, Leslie McKay and his wife Connie and James McKay and his wife Debra all of Amarillo, Texas.
