Robert Walter Bowers, age 91, passed away in Clayton, New Mexico on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Clayton Methodist Church with Pastor, Kenneth W. Tidmore, officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Robert was born on March 9, 1935, in Mound, Minnesota to Walter Sherman Bowers and Mary (Schwartz) Bowers. The Bowers and Schwartz families were early settlers in the area. After graduation from high school, Robert entered the US Navy. After his time in the service, he returned to Mound where he met his wife Ardis White. They were married in 1963 and were blessed with 2 sons Garth and Neil.
Bob and his family moved to Colorado in 1972, where he worked almost 30 years building homes in that then booming area. Bob and Ardis retired in Clayton, New Mexico in 2000. In retirement Bob did home projects and repairs and enjoyed meeting people in their new community of Clayton. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Jerry and Lorren.
Robert is survived by his wife Ardis Bowers of Clayton, New Mexico.
2 Sons, Garth Bowers and his wife Jennifer and their daughter Abigail of Oro Valley, Arizona and Neil Bowers and his wife Becky of Richmond, Virginia and their children Wesley Bowers, John Bowers and Elise Morgan (Atticus).
Robert is also survived by cousins Loelita Hentges of Delano, Minnesota and her son Lance, Nancy Oestrich of Spring Park, Minnesota and her son Bill Schutt (Jill) of Duluth, Minnesota and their daughter Sarah. Richard Harris of Florida, niece DeAnn Bowers of Scottsdale and nephew James Bowers.
Bob will be missed and will be remembered as a man who loved his Lord, and who was a man of integrity and dependability.
