Stephanie Marie Russell, age 54, died on Thursday, October 1, 2026 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Graveside services will be recited at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Hilario Perez, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Clayton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Stephanie (Cordova) Russell was born on January 15, 1972 in Clayton, New Mexico to Andres A. Cordova and Stella (Ortiz) Cordova. She attended school in Clayton and graduated from Clayton High School in 1990. Stephanie married Jeff Russell on May 28, 1994 in Clayton. Stephanie worked for many years for Foundry and Steel of Amarillo, for First National Bank in Clayton, Poole Chemical in Texline and for Lazy 6 Meat Market in Texline. Together with her husband Jeff, they owned and operated Crazy Jeff’s BBQ. They smoked BBQ and Briskets and served at numerous events throughout the area for many years. Stephanie was full of life and was the glue that held the family together. Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Andres Cordova and Stella Cordova and by a sister-in-law, Eileen Gonzales.

HUSBAND: Jeff Russell of Clayton, New Mexico.

A great-niece that is like a daughter to them: Steelee Cordova of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 BROTHERS: Dennis Cordova and wife Loretta of Clayton, New Mexico and Robert Gonzales of Raton, New Mexico.

Nieces & Nephews: Robi Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robin Salazar and husband Ernest of Raton, New Mexico, Audrey Mulloy and husband Michael of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Sarah Cordova of Lubbock, Texas.

Great-nephew: Andres Jeshua Paez of Lubbock, Texas.

And a very close cousin: Lisa Sramek and husband Kirk of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
