Susan Bernice Valdez, age 61, died on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Rosary will be celebrated on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico followed by Mass of Christian burial with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Susan Bernice (Martinez) Valdez was born on August 24, 1962, in Clayton, New Mexico to Jesse Martinez and Bernice (Frank) Martinez. Susan married her best friend, Jose Valdez on September 10, 1982, in Clayton, New Mexico. She worked as a waitress for the old Rabbit Ear Café for several years, worked as an insurance agent and worked as an assistant to the District Attorney in Clayton for 17 years until she retired. Susan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was a devoted catholic and donated to many catholic charities and hospitals through out her life. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Jesse Martinez.

HUSBAND And BEST FRIEND: Jose Valdez of Clayton, New Mexico.

3 DAUGHTERS: Erica Garcia and Raul, Jaime Padilla and Thomas and Kameryn Valdez and Jaron Sanchez all of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 SON: Adrian Valdez and Shiloh of Lubbock, Texas.

10 GRANDCHILDREN: Avree Valdez, Zaylee Valdez, Dax Valdez, Rayden Garcia, Rhyten Garcia, Selah Garcia, Aiden Padilla, Naomi Padilla, Jerome Padilla and 1 on the way.

2 SISTERS: Frances Hopson of San Diego, California and Kathryn Velarde of Aztec, New Mexico.

And several nieces and nephews that she adored.
