Obituary

Vince Garcia, age 73, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home in Clayton.

Rosary was recited at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 10th and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated immediately following at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joel Bugas, Celebrant. Arrangements were under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Vince Garcia was born on December 8, 1940 in Clayton, New Mexico to Vicente Alonzo Garcia, Jr. and was raised by his grandparents, Vicente Alonzo Garcia, Sr. and Olivama (Romero) Garcia. A lifelong resident of Clayton, Vince graduated valedictorian of his class from Clayton High School and was in a band called the Rocking Crickets. After he graduated Vince served two years in the US Army during Vietnam. After returning from the military, Vince worked for Whites Auto and later for Fina before going to work at Alsups where he worked for 22 years before he retired in 2000. Vince was a member of the VFW Post 3271 in Clayton and loved to read and play guitar.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Valerie Garcia of Kennesaw, Georgia.

1 SON: Vince Garcia of Las Vegas, Nevada.

2 GRANDCHILDREN: Vince Garcia and Ashlyn Garcia both of Clayton, New Mexico.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in his memory to the VFW Post 3271 in Clayton.
