Wallace Littleton Mitchell, age 76, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor and Scott Weese officiating. Burial followed in the Grandview Cemetery, North of Clayton by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Wallace Littleton Mitchell was born on August 15, 1935 in Des Moines, New Mexico to Henry Littleton Mitchell and Theresa E. (McNaghten) Mitchell. He graduated third in his class from Branson High School in Branson, Colorado in 1953 and joined the US Navy, where he served four years and graduated with the Sea B's. He married Cheryl (Weese) Mitchell on June 29, 1962 in Clayton, New Mexico. Wallace was a Cowboy, a Rancher and a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the Folsom Church. In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by a grandson; Caleb Kear on May 24, 2006, a sister; Barbara Whitfield and 2 brothers-in-law; Alan Weese and Garry Weese.

WIFE: Cheryl Mitchell of Clayton, New Mexico.

3 DAUGHTERS: Carolyn Kear and her husband Russell, Janis Ruf and her husband John and Jeanette Walker and her husband Derek all of Clayton, New Mexico.

1 SON: Wallace Littleton Mitchell, Jr. And his wife Kim of Folsom, New Mexico.

9 GRANDCHILDREN: Chelsea Kear, Tate Littleton Mitchell, Jake Mitchell, Kaylee Mitchell, Sterling Walker, Brayden Walker, Jaide Walker, Abby Ruf and Rylan Ruf.

2 SISTERS: Anna Chacon and her husband Carlos of Trinidad, Colorado and Kathy McDonald of San Antonio, Texas.

1 BROTHER: Lowry Mitchell of San Francisco, California.

1 SISTER-IN-LAW: Shirley Bates and her husband David of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

1 BROTHER-IN-LAW: Kevin Weese and his wife Rhonda of Dalhart, Texas.

and several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family suggests that memorials be made to the Caleb Kear Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of the Farmers & Stockmans Bank of Clayton.
