William George Bolz, Jr. "Billy", age 88, passed from this life on the morning of July 26, 2022, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Vigil services will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Billy was born April 17, 1934, to William George Bolz, Sr. "Bill" and Gertrude (Veith) Bolz "Gertie" in Ione, New Mexico. He attended school in Amistad and graduated from Clayton High School in 1953. He joined the Army and was a part of The Honest John Division. Billy married Mary Frances (Callis) Bolz in 1962 and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2008. Billy ranched in the Amistad area until he passed. Billy enjoyed his visits to the Clayton sale barn where he loved to find a bargain. When he was no longer able to visit the sale, he watched it via internet. Billy enjoyed fishing and horse racing. He was an accomplished horseback rider. More than anything else Billy enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gertie Bolz, his sisters Irene Bledsoe and Marie Aversa and his brothers Jimmy Bolz and Tommy Bolz.
SURVIVORS:
1 SISTER: Juanita Libby of Amistad, New Mexico.
2 SONS: William "Bustie" Bolz and Bennie Bolz both of Amistad, New Mexico.
1 DAUGHTER: Anna Thoreson and her husband Brett of Amarillo, Texas.
His grandchildren: Billy Thoreson and his wife Marci, Trina Acosta and her husband Oscar and Tessa Martin.
His great-grandchildren: Laney, Zaevah, Mia, Cutter, Emma, Brazen, Cash, Layla and Angel.
And his nephews and nieces.
MEMORIALS: The family requests donations be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Clayton or Alcoholic Anonymous or to the Amistad Association.
